As part of a subject reconfiguration programe between Swansea Institute and Swansea University Swansea Institue, now Swansea Metropolitan University, were to take on education and expand their Arts, Media & Design school. This necessitated vacating Townhill campus to provide space for the transfer of the teacher training facility and moving the whole of the faculty of Art Design & Media to a new location identified in the centre of Swansea.

The reconfiguration works were divided into two phases which required the Dynevor project to be constructed by September 2005 followed by the CIRIC Centre 2006.  Further works under WEFO grant aid following in 2006/2008.

Bowen & Partners provide the project and cost management services and CDM Co-ordination together with a complete design team via sub-consultants.

The first phase was for the construction of the Dynevor Centre for Art Media & Design, an 8500m² development for the whole school comprising photography and video; surface pattern and printmaking; fine arts; ceramics; visual communications together with lecture theatres, refectory etc.

The centre was completed in September 2005 followed by further works to form the Sony Innovation Centre and the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Centre which was completed in 2006.  This was followed by WAG assisted environemntal regeneration grant finished in 2008.
