The Maltings is a Grade II listed Victorian building constructed circa 1880 and comprises three old malt houses.

The first phase completed includes the conversion of 2 floors of House 3 to provide complete serviced offices, board room, video conference and reception facilities.  House 1 kiln block was completely gutted internally leaving only the brick façade and a 5 storey office was built within the listed structure. Further facilities include a gymnasium, a sandwich/café bar and amenity areas.

Bowen & Partners were initially involved in replacing the roof to the Kiln Block but following a client review of building uses, a concept for regeneration was established for alternative uses.  Bowen & Partners assisted the client in advising how the contract to achieve the new concept could be accelerated by alternative procurement methods.  The contractor was appointed on a two stage tender to enable them to work with the client on this complex construction in programming and costing the project to meet the Maltings timescale and cost requirements.

Bowen & Partners negotiated the contract with Knox & Wells and undertook the project and financial management and CDM Co-ordinator roles on the project.

In the RICS Regional Awards 2013, The Maltings was highly commended in the conservation catergory.
